Second Annual Big Gateaux Show

Last night was the second annual Big Gateaux Show hosted by Tariq Hanna and Keegan Gerhard. Like last year's show, each competitor was assigned a burlesque dancer from which to draw inspiration and create a show piece of their likeness. Instead of doing cakes however, this year the four contestants prepared a variety of mini desserts for attendees to enjoy.

 

Instead of going as a guest, I volunteered along with a bunch of ladies from the kitchen. We were assigned a chef's table to work and made sure the desserts were stocked for the guests.

Dexter S7

My Dexter Season 7 DVDs arrived yesterday!!! Woo hoo! With S7 in my possession I should be all caught up....again... in time to go right into the finale! (I have lost track of how many times I have watched the show in it's entirety... 7 times? 8? Just never gets old!) Season 8 (the final one) starts in a little over a month. Showtime released a trailer and my-oh-my it looks goooood!! I don't know how everything is going to go down, but I am super excited to watch it all unfold.

Mud Bugs Yall!

Joseph Street FINALLY hosted a crawfish boil! We usually get on this earlier in the year, but the timing never seemed to work out. Regardless, on Sunday we did our thing and ate about 80 lbs. of mud bugs! They were delicious, the weather was great, and the company lovely :)

Magazine Street Champagne Stroll

Saturday evening Brie and I met up with a few of her other friends to partake in the Magazine Street Champagne Stroll. Basically a bunch of boutiques, galleries, and restaurants up and down Magazine Street were having sales, viewings, entertainment, and of course champagne for folks to enjoy. The rain that we have been getting the past few days let up enough and the evening was actually very pleasant to be out walking around. I like events such as this because I would not normally wander into these types of places, but this gives me an opportunity to see things (i.e. artwork) I wouldn't usually see and that is always nice :)

Jazz Fest 2013

Another Jazz Fest has come and gone in NOLA. Keeping with my usual tradition, I only went on the last Sunday; unlike tradition, the weather was AWESOME! It wasn't a sweat fest this year and most people were actually wearing jackets. The previous day's rain made for a muddy mess, but I will take mud and upper 60's weather to no-mud and upper 80's weather any day!!

 

I went for the Pine Leaf Boys and the Black Keys. Other than those two groups I saw Trombone Shorty but that was all.

Another tradition that I didn't really realize I had until the other day when I was looking back through older photos on my phone: Every year I take a picture of my feet at Jazz Fest! They are always so dirty and I end up sitting down and snapping a shot...so here is the latest gross foot pic!Haha--enjoy!
